Wushu players win 6 medals, Natung felicitates medalists

ITANAGAR, May 21: Sports, Youths Affairs and WRD Minister Mama Natung on Thursday felicitated winners of six-day online National Wushu (Taolu) Championship which concluded on Wednesday.

While congratulating them, Natung said “It is a proud moment for us that our children have been doing extremely well in all disciplines. It highly appreciable that three of them Nyeman Wangsu of Longding district won 3 goldmedals in Chanquan, Daoshu and Gunshu events; Mepung Lamgu of East Kameng won one each silver in Taijiquan and bronze in Taijijan while Toku Agung won silver in Nanquan events, he said.

Union MoS (Sports & Youth Affairs) Kiren Rijiju had inaugurated the event as chief guest. Our athletes are now shining in almost all events as the state Govt, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu with support of Rijiju in Centre, is committed to development of games and sports. Several sports infrastructures including stadiums in various districts  are under construction, he said.

The world is fighting Coronarirus (COVID-19) and it is high time for all to realize about their health and safety which would be possible by strictly following standard operating procedures including using masks and maintaining physical distancing, he said.

While congratulating Arunachal Wushu Association team lead by president Toko Teki for their success, he exhorted them to make preparations for national and global events in future.  Teki lauded one and all for their support.
