Sikam Sibu bridge opens for traffic, Sona lauds BRO

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: The vital bridge over Sikam Sibu stream along Aalo-Mechukha road in newly created Shi Yomi district, was opened for traffic on Monday as promised by its builder Border Road Organization (BRO).

Aalo-Mechukha road is a key and strategic for movement of people, transportation of essential commodities, life saving drugs, construction materials and movement of defense personnel to border through the district.

But the bridge was washed away on June 2 last due to heavy landslides that had snapped surface communication of the district from rest of Arunachal Pradesh.Tthe connectivity was. however, restored a temporary bridge within a few days

The opening of the bridge is of utmost importance to facilitate easy movement of men and materials and to tackle emergency medical situations, particularly during prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

The BRO official said that the bridge work was taken up on priority by bringing materials from different places to complete it in a record time.

However, Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona in appreciation said: “I appreciate BRO team for constructing the vital bridge in a time-bound manner.”
