BOMDILA, July 30: West Kameng Police, on received of inputs on Wednesday night, activated a naka here that intercepted a truck laden with illegal timbers from Nafra on way to Assam.
Bomdila police station team led by OC SI Krishnendu Dev spotted the truck bearing registration No. AS 13 C- 3644 around 2 AM and on searching found huge amount of timber which was seized and its driver Passang Tamang was arrested, according to SP Raja Bhantia.
Tamang during interrogation revealed that the timbers were loaded at Khazalang, Nafra and proceeding to Bhalukpong to hand over to another party of Assam.
The DFO in being informed visited the PS for verification.
A case (No. 31/2 U/S 379/411 IPC R/W SEC 3/7 of A.P. forest (removal of timber) Act 1983) was registered with local PS and investigation launched to find others involved in the illegal trade going on in some parts of the district, the release added.
