ITANAGAR, Aug 19: Prof. Mazhar Asif of JNU-cum-draft committee member of National Education Policy-2020 (NEP) said that it is based on democratic principles and values of our nation.
In his keynote address to national webinar on ‘NEP: Role of stakeholders, organized by NGO Arunachal region Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM) on Thursday, said that the policy is India-student-teacher centric nd aims to fill the gap between education system and society by recognizing different skill based practices which will further enrich and strengthen the system.
Stressing on regional languages, he said it will strengthen tribal heritage and traditions. Saying role of teachers in nation building is well recognized by the policy as it has advocated high respect for teachers in the society. Teachers posted in rural areas, like Arunachal Pradesh, should be given incentives to boost their morale. He also called for empowering underprivileged students, particularly of rural areas in Arunachal Pradesh though fellowship/scholarship.
Referring to NEP recommendation for use of local language, Rajiv Gandhi University vice chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha said it will benefit NE states to promote local language. Welcoming proposed flexible pattern of education with multi entry and exit, he said it will directly benefit state students. He also called for developing institution in border areas to study people living in border areas, their challenges, transmigration behavior, disputes and development.
GoAP Education Minister Taba Tedir also spoke about various challenges of education in this hilly state. Total 500 participants from across the country registered for the webinar, DNGC anthropology HoD Dr. Ratna Tayeng said in a release.
