Police arrest kingpin, 3 drug peddlers with drugs

CHANGLANG, Aug 19: Three suspected persons involved in drug trafficking, identified as Duyu Sunny (30), Sentum Poyun (35) and Tuleshwar Chetia (38) were arrested and about 141 gm suspected contraband drug and Rs 25,000 recovered from their possession in presence of executive magistrate Goju Sikom on Wednesday.

This was the outcome of raid conducted by Changlang district anti-drug squad (ADS) led by Insp C A Namchoom, local police station OC and his team including constables M Saikia, Samre Kungkho, K Mungrey and K Khomrang conducted raid under supervision of SP Mihin Gambo along MC road near Namdang gate based on inputs about drug trafficking, according to an official release.

The trio during spot interrogation admitted that brown sugar was purchased from Assam and brought upto Namdang check gate by their Assam agents by hiding inside Bolero pick up carrying bricks.

The kingpin of alleged drug trafficking one Techom Tangha (49) was also apprehended from Changlang town based on disclosure made by the trio.

The ADS also seized one Mahindra bolero pickup, one motor cycle and four mobile phones belong to the drug traffickers. A case has been registered with local PS under NDPS Act and investigation launched, the release added.
