Blood donation a service to humanity: MLA Jini

AALO, Sept 26: Blood donation is a humanitarian service and donors have nothing to lose as it is beneficial in reducing iron accumulation in the body, cancerous cells growth, burn calories to be fit while stimulate blood cell production in long run, said Aalo East MLA Kento Jini after felicitated all voluntary blood donors of West Siang district here on Saturday.
After giving away certificates and mementos all donors, he informed that he is in constant touch with medical authority to improve condition of General Hospital here, he said that more specialist doctors will be posted soon to cater medical needs of the people. He assured all help to Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization (AVBDO) for blood donation in future.
Urging the youth to come forward in its fight against drug ruining youths of this district, he cited the example of recent breakthrough in nabbing drug peddlers by the police. This is a step forward in wiping out drugs from our society, he said.
DRDA project director Jiken Bomjen said that health delivery system is one of the most essential services which need united efforts of district administration, health department and civil society.
Efforts are being made by medical fraternity to give good shape to the hospital to fulfill health needs of the patients; DMO Dr. Moli Riba said and sought cooperation of all in achieving the goal.
AVBDO chairman Ramesh Jeke, instrumental in organizing the event, highlighted how he launched blood donation movement after discarding the offer to join NDA in 2008 at the tender age of 18 years. He said that he had visited many districts on a scooty donated by then minister Kalikho Pul to mobilize blood donation camps in the district to meet state’s annual requirements of 15,000 units of blood. He also lauded MLA Jini for providing blood testing kits and making blood bank operational during CPVOD-19 pandemic time on his personal request.
