ITANAGAR, Nov 21: The Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) handed over cheque amounting to Rs. 4,50,083 to Galo Welfare Society (GWS) on Friday as financial aid for flood affected families of Ego Valley.
Devastating flood water on September 17 last had left behind trails of devastation in Dari circle of Leparada district besides claiming two precious lives while many had lost their home and hearths, business establishments being main source of earning livelihood, agricultural and horticultural lands.
The ABK is indebted to GWS for its humanitarian gesture in offering financial aid on August 21 to March 25 fire victims of Kaying village in Siang district as around 54 houses and a community hall were reduced to ashes in the fire mishap, its president Getom Borang said in his address to office bearers of both NGOs.
The Adi community volunteered to donate overwhelmingly for the cause of the flood victims as a reciprocal gesture reflecting solidarity shown by GWS, he said.
GWS president Tanga Kena, on behalf of the Galo community and the flood affected families, conveyed deep sense of gratitude to ABK, saying it would go a long way for bonhomie between major communities of Adi & Galo and strengthen their age-old ties further, according to a GWS release.
