NAHARLAGUN, Jan 11: Justifying the common adage ‘health is wealth’, Arunachal Pradesh NHM mission director C R Khampa during an online conference on Monday exhorted all DRCHOs to intensify activities of their respective health and wellness centres (H&WCs) to benefit the masses.

His exhortation to the district reproductive & child health officers (DRCHOs) came during monthly reviews of H&WCs based on updated posting of activities on NHM portal. Service provider Jhpiego’s senior programme officer Dr Ajay Patle, programme officer Laxmi Shylla and H&WC assistant nodal officer Dr Dipu Lowang were part of the conference.

Jhpiego, founded in 1973, is an “international non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, initially known as Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics.

Pointing out that tough hilly terrain of Arunachal Pradesh poses challenges to people living in remote and far-flung places, he advocated them make tele-consultation effective to serve as a boon for the people in availing desired health services.

Announcing that good doers would be given incentives, he exhorted in-charges of all sub-health centres and PHCs working as H&WCs to ensure posting of all activities being monitored by the Union Health & Welfare Ministry.

When a Namsai-based officer during interaction indicated about lack of desired infrastructures for reporting, Khampa said that creation of such infrastructures is under consideration of the state government for easy uploading of conducted activities to the porter.

Responding to question from this daily that poor internet connectivity was drag in offering effective services, mission director Khampa said: “Improvement of internet by the service providers is a continuous process but our services are  satisfactory where ever good connectivity is available. That is why you saw now my virtual conference with all DRCHOS and other officials of all districts.”
