ITANAGAR, Jan 21: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein urged officers of power department to gear up for maximum revenue collection through online payment during a review meeting with commissioner and CEs & advisor to power minister Balo Raja on status of online payment of electricity bills on Thursday.
The department till December last, earned revenue of Rs 3,37,21,773 crore through online payment from 2,34,58,234 postpaid bills and 1,02,63,539 prepaid bills. He said, adding the online payment system in few towns was launched as digital governance for convenience of consumers. He also advocated to encourage consumers to avail SMS and e-Billing to maximize revenue collection.
Capital electrical division EE Joram Lali in a power point presentation earlier said that the customer care centre (CCC) has been made operational since June last for electricity consumers of Itanagar, Naharlagun, Pasighat, Roing, Tezu & Namsai while online payment was launched on July 22 last.
The CCC for Ziro, Daporijo & Aalo towns would be made operational by activating online payment system while consumers of six towns visiting offices for power supply, electricity bills, meter readings, billings etc. could avail such services through help line (19120, he disclosed. He also hinted that online electricity bill payment through mobile App would be launched by February next. (PRO)
