Cultural event to showcase talents of divyangjans: Libang

ITANAGAR, Mar 03: The Departments of Social Justice and Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, WCD and Health in collaboration with Cuttack based Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, under DEPWD of the union Social Justice and Empowerment ministry will organize a cultural event by the Divyangjan: Divya Kala Shakti on Thursday at DK Convention Centre, here.

The programme would be graces by Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and a host of VVIPs.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang during a press conference organized on the occasion on Wednesday, while appreciating the Centre for selecting Arunachal as the host state for the unique cultural event, lauded the organizers for the noble initiative saying that it would go a long way to encourage the artistes with disabilities and provide them the much needed fillip and impetus to face the challenges of life.

DEPWD Joint Secretary said that the main objective of organising the event was to provide a platform to the diviangjan to showcase their talents adding that the event held at Rashtrapati Bhawan was highly appreciated by the President in 2019.

He further said that the event is being held at Itanagar to facilitate artistes from the north-east with participation of artistes from a few other states of the country.

Earlier, welcoming the guests Commissioner of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, threw light on the purpose and objective of organizing the mega cultural event. She expressed happiness over the preparations and said that it is a matter of pride to host a cultural event of such magnitude. (DIPR)
