KIMIN, Mar 03: A large turn-up was witnessed on the day-long technology awareness cum Mithun health camp and TSP input distribution programme organized at Dorpa village under Kimin sub division on the occasion Mithun Mela on Wednesday.
More than 60 mithuns were brought to the site and vaccinated. Veterinary officers of National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM) and others take part in health checkup and distribution of medicines to the farmers.
As part of the Institute’s initiative to popularize semi-intensive mithun the farmers were distributed barbed wires, ear tags, bags, gumboots, raincoats and caps.
Scientists and researchers had an interactive session with the mithun farmers and demonstrated the technique for tagging of ear tag to the animal as identification tools for keeping record and also to prevent the ownership dispute.
The different technologies as well as use of different medicine in the treatment of mithuns like FMD and others were described by Dr Keza Vito, Chief Technical Officer of NRCM, Nagaland.
He also highlighted the scientific information related to advanced mithun husbandry and use of mineral mixture to improve the health condition of the animals.
The overview of different diseases as well as importance of vaccination and mass deworming has been highlighted by Mission Director, Arunachal Mithun & Yak conservation Mission, Dr Taba Heli.
The health check up of mithun were also done and treated accordingly which was followed by free distribution of veterinary medicines and other equipments.
Papum Pare ZPC Chukhu Bablu and Kimin ZPM Bameng Yayu also assured to assist the farmers in preservation and protection of the mithuns.
