AALO, Mar 07: The Central Mopin Celebration Committee (CMCC), Aalo has decided to celebrate Mopin 2021 in a grand manner from April 5 next.
CMCC president Nyiken Lollen has appealed to people residing in all sectors of Aalo town, nearby villages and Galos residing in other parts of the state to celebrate the festival in a grand and befitting manner.
The festival will be celebrated by strictly following the latest Covid protocol issued by the central and state governments, said CMCC general secretary Jumge Ete.
Ete has requested Galos to start practicing cultural activities, games and sports, Popir competition, mega Ponu, etc., for the festival.
This year, the festival will go digital with Free Wi-fi, live streaming, CCTV surveillance for security and to ensure Covid-19 protocols in the main festival ground at Gumin Kiin, he said.
Last year, the most important festival of the Galo community could not be celebrated due to Covid-19 pandemic-induced lockdown in the state.
It may be mentioned that the first central Mopin was celebrated in 1966 at the then Mopin-Solung Dere, Aalo.
