8,583 vaccinated in state Capital till Apr 6: DMO

NAHARLAGUN, Apr 06: The vaccination drive against COVID-19 pandemic has been going on across Arunachal Pradesh since the drive was launched by Home Minister Bamang Felix at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS) here on January 16 last.

Arunachal Pradesh had received total 32,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, a product of Serum Institute of India, and vaccination has been taken up as per Co-WIN application.

Total 8583 doses were vaccinated to eligible persons of Capital Complex of total registered with Co-Win till 4 pm on Tuesday, said DMO Dr Mandip Perme quoting vaccine calls chain manager Gumpo Jillen, who has been uploading the data to Co-WIN website for the record of Union Ministry of Health.

Five vaccination centers have been set up at TRIMHS here; RKM Hospital & Itafort Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC), Itanagar and Kharsang UPHC and Chimpu PHC where medical staff under the supervision of doctors have been inoculating the people coming forward for vaccination, he informed.

A mechanism has been developed for the vaccination process with National Rural Health Mission nodal officer Dr. Diman Padung receiving the vaccine doses from New Delhi and dispatching to different district of the state, he informed.

The state has over 23,000 health workers and over 7,000 army and paramilitary forces, who were covered in the first phase. The health & family welfare department had announced vaccination centers at Tawang KDS District Hospital; Pasighat Bakin Pertin General Hospital, District Hospitals at Yingkiong, Namsai, Ziro, Aalo,  Seppa and Longding besides TRIHMS initially.

Pointing out that the COVID-19 status of the state is better, he said that till April 3, the total cases stood at 16,849, including 4 active cases, 16,785 recoveries and 56 deaths, but recorded no case for last many days, Dr Perme reiterated the view of H&FW Minister Alo Libang that strict adherence to prescribed COVID-19 protocols alone would protect people and ensure their safety.

An eight-member team, including four nursing officers, one ANM and two lab technicians znder the supervision of Dr Yabom Bage, was inoculation people of different ages in TRIMHS with Covazxin vaccine on Tuesday, true to what Dr Perme had said.

One of them said that average 150 people are vaccinated daily though the number duffers daily.
