Arunachal launches drone to spread seedballs on ground

ITANAGAR, Feb 25: A plantation pilot project using drone technology was launched in Doimara reserve forest area in Khellong Forest Division of Bhalukpong under guidance of PCCF-cum-EF&CC principal secretary R. K. Singh and DFO V. K. Jawal recently.

This is first experimental phase of the project in which 200 hectare degraded land will be planted using seedballs dropped from a Drone called ‘Seedcopter’, according to an official release.

The project has been taken up by state’s EF&CC department in association with Marut Dronetech Pvt. Ltd., a leading startup company in this technology. This project, part of introduction of drone technology in state’s forestry sector, aims at spreading 2, 00,000 seedballs in about 15 days in the targeted  area.

This is a new and innovative way of planting seeds in difficult terrain with limited reach due to slope and high gradient. The technology includes creating seedballs from mixture of clay and manure having seeds in its core. The seedballs provide necessary moisture and nutrients for germination of seeds.

These seedballs dropped in specific intervals reach the ground and germinate gradually after few days. The seedballs are specially brought from Hyderabad, but it is planned to prepare them with the help of local communities and self-help groups in subsequent phases to generate employment for them.

The EF&CC department has seen a paradigm shift under leadership of its Minister Mama Natung, particularly in introducing technology-based solutions to overcome challenges faced due to difficult terrain of this Himalayan state. Success of drone based technological intervention will further open avenues to introduce it in other sectors of forest operation to bring more efficiency in operations & monitoring, the release added.

AONS adds: Drone is commonly used for various purposes across the world now. The applications for camera drones are endless. In addition to capturing outdoor adventures, they are used today in pro film, real estate, business marketing, search and rescue, inspection, security, land surveying, and many more industries. Intermediate drones are sometimes referred to as “prosumer” drones as they are able to be used professionally and personally.

Advanced drones are generally used by professional cinematographers. These drones offer unmatched speeds, acceleration, stability, image processing and more. Many support Cinema DNG and ProRes recording. Advanced drones are often ready-to-fly right out of the box, and offer intuitive flight modes.

After the invention of aircrafts by Wright Brothers in 1903, man started more and more experiments in aerial vehicles. From the very beginning, aircrafts was made up to serve military. The purpose was to detect the target from heights which is still safer than the lands.

Drone, invented for military purposes, has become  most valuable asset for the military aviation. However, as of now it is a central part of civil life.

The genius and innovative mind behind the predator or drone is Abraham E. Karem, who is called as father of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Technology.

Abraham was born on 27.06.1937 in Baghdad, Iraq.  But his family shifted to Israel zfter few years where he grew up and took higher education. From the childhood, he had a deep passion in science and technology. When he was just 14 years old, he made the aircraft’s models. He had a garage in his home where he ran experiments.

He graduated in aeronautics due to his passion in science and aerial vehicles. He was made up his first drone For Israeli Air Force during the World War. He immigrated to California, United States in 1970.

Ibrahim may have lived in any country, but he has always served the air force of that country with his knowledge and innovations. Abraham’s inventions were most famous and less with advanced technologies. It was used in the service of United States and Italian Air Force. Amber was his first most sophisticated drone which was the most famous predator drone.

After the invention of aircrafts, these aircrafts has widely used for military purposes. But there was also a drawback with aircrafts being flown by humans. But the chances of accident were high due to any technical fault and aircraft caught fire due to high wind pressure. On account of having such accidents, there was a risk to both loss of life and loss of property.
