Capital Police solve series of theft cases, nab 4 & recover stolen items

ITANAGAR, Feb 25: Capital Police with consistent efforts to contain rising cases two wheelers, domestic gas cylinder, robbery and snatching in Itanager area, SP Capital Jimmy Chiram constituted an special anti-theft team led by Itanager SDPO Kamdam Sikom, Insp Simi, SIs Kenter Tacha & Sanjeet Jha, HC Kamgo, constables Siplu, Ligu, Basar, Mili & Anil, Tago Thomas, Geyum Padu and (lady) Wangsu.

On 16.02.22, one suspected person, namely Tok Chahar, 21, was apprehended and during interrogation he was found to be involved in a case registered at Itanagar PS vide case No. 511/2021 u/s 379, accordingly he was arrested instantly.

On his revelation one stolen cylinder and one red MI mobile were recovered. He also disclosed that one Ropo Bagang, 22, and Ato Changrang, 18, are involved in series of criminal activities, like lifting of two wheelers, lifting gas cylinders from others house, batteries from car, and snatching cobile & Cash etc in Itanager Capital Region.

Further, he was voluntarily willing to lead to show where Ropo Bagang and his friends hiding themselves after committing a crime.

On 17.02.22, on being led by detainee Tok Chahar, police team including SDPO K Sikom, Insp Simi & SI Kenter Tacha raided in one abandoned house located in deep jungle near Senki View, where both the named accused were found sleeping. Both were detained and during search some suspicious two wheelers lifting tools, like knifes and 2 kukris, 4 scissors, 2 combination pliers, 3 plug wrench, 2 iron pieces,11 various wrenches,  4 robber pipe of 4 feet length, one mobile handset were recovered from their possession. Later on, a suo-moto case was registered, which was endorsed to SI. Kenter Tacha for probe.

During the course of investigation, they have disclosed that along with their other friends they had lifted, 11 motorcycles, 16 scooties, stolen 10 domestic gas cylinders, 10 batteries, snatched 7 mobile phones and cash from various sectors of Itanagar and Naharlagun area. They sold stolen items at cheaper rate in Assam side os Banderdewa, Seppa and few at Itanager.

Later, both were found to be involved in 7 cases registerded at Itanagar PS case no. 59/2022 u/s 379/34 IPC, 58/22 u/s 379 IPC, 09/2022 u/s 380 IPC, 419/22 u/s 379 IPC, 108 /18 u/s 379/34 IPC, Niti Vihar PS case No. 07/2021 u/s 379 IPC and Naharlagun PS case No. 91/2019 u/s 379 IPC.

On being led by both accused Ropo Bagang and Ato Changrang, the police team recovered stolen properties, including one Bajaj Pulsar 200, one Avenger, two Ray Z Scooty, 16 domestic cylinders, 3 mobile handsets, 334.5 kg copper wire and 32 batteries within Capital Complex and Banderdewa.

Capital SP sent a special team led by SI. K. Tacha, constables Padu, Ligu and Basar along with accused Ropo Bagang to Seppa to recover two wheeler which were sold there. After rigorous efforts, the team recovered one each Yamaha V3, FZ V2, R-15, Yamaha Bike, Scooty Ntorq and Yamaha Fasino  with the help of Insp Sochi Don and L/ct H Simai of Seppa Police.

In other case, the police team led by SI Sanjeet Jha also arrested one habitual theif, namely Sunil Gumja, 20, from IG Park in the instant case of Itangar PS case no. 55/22 u/s 380 and recovered one each Iphone 13 Pro Max, knife and Asus Notebook from him.

Capital SP has lauded the excellent work done by the team for cracking series of robberies and theft cases registered at various PSs in ICR. He assured that all receivers of stolen properties will be booked u/s 411 IPC and punished as per law. He requested public to be more cautious and keep sharp vigil on such anti-social elements and call ‘112’ for immediate police assistance, according to an official release.
