School principal arrested for question paper leakage

ITANAGAR, Feb 26: Dirang Valley Public School principal Tezi Ramadasow was arrested on Friday in connection with leakage of class-VIII board’s social science & science question papers of Arunachal Pradesh State Board of Examination (APSBE).

West Kameng SP Bharat Reddy, when contacted, said that the arrest was based on a report filed by Dirang BEO T N Tukshipa that a boy had confessed of receiving question papers prior to the exam.

Thus, an FIR was registered u/s 420/120B with Dirang police station, based on evidence of question papers sent by the principal to the student through phone, along with seized hard copies,” Reddy informed.

Re-examination would be conducted in March for which all DDSEs would be directed accordingly, APSBE chairman Otem Tayeng informed.

This is first leakage of question paper since introduction of the APSBE in 2017.

The examinations for classes-VI and VIII had begun on February 17 and class-VI exams were complete on February 23.

Meanwhile, condemning question paper leakage by the principal, Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) said: “Such irresponsible act of a responsible person has tainted image of the teaching community.” It urged the department and administration to take action as per the law against the faulty.
