Naharlagun Railway Station shortlisted to be developed as world class station: Hina

ITANAGAR, Jun 29: Naharlagun Railway Station has been shortlisted for development as world class station and work would start very soon, according to Rangia Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) member Roger Nabam Hina

Hina, who attended 19th consultative meeting of Northern Frontier Railway at Divisional Headquarter, Rangia on Wednesday, raised various issue to improve railway service.

He wanted to know the status of Railway bridge over Pachin river that connects railway station from Naharlagun (NH-415), present status of bridge construction works being executed by M/s Tama Fabrication Works. He was informed that the work will be completed by 31.12.22.

He urged to erect security fencing in both sides of the Railway track to prevent human and animal straying into the railway track, to build over bridge and underpasses in vital locations between Gumto and Naharlagun Railway Stations for easy passage of human, domesticated and wild animals to avoid fatal accidents.

This was in reference to tragic 18.05.22 incident which had claimed life Techi Takar, son of Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso while on a morning walk. Many human lives and animal lives had been lost in recent past. Thus, they assured to examine the matter seriously for necessary actions.

Suggested proper ILP checking facility; setting up of large numbers of clean and hygienic toilets at Naharlagun and Gumto stations; provision to ensure security of passengers travelling from Naharlagun to various destinations, especially ladies and girl who travel alone; more writing sheds for both the stations; pntation around the station and in catchment areas to prevent railway stations from erosion etc.

The meeting was chaired by Rangia Division divisional railway manager and presided over by Sr. divisional commercial manager and attended by the railway and RPF officials and members nominated from Rangia Division jurisdiction.
