TEZU, Aug 05: North East Council (NEC) Secretary K Moses Chalai accompanied by Director Science and Technology of the council Tanung Jamoh and state’s Planning & Investment joint director Okep Tayeng on Friday visited Tezu to take stock of all the schemes funded by NEC in the district.
The team along with Lohit DC Marge Sora visited Tezu Airport to inspect the work progress which is being funded by NEC. They visited the terminal block, apron area, ATC tower cum technical block.
The NEC secretary interacted with the Director AAI Amarkant L Sonawane and the representatives of TCIL, the executing agency.
The AAI Director informed the team that major works have been completed and tentatively all works would be completed by October 31 next. Commercial flights were operationalized from August 19 last year and the inaugural flight was virtually flagged off by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Currently Fly Big and Alliance Airlines are providing their services connecting Tezu to Dibrugarh and Guwahati.
The director informed the team that more flights to major cities in north east are in the pipeline.
The secretary expressed his satisfaction for work being carried out and said that Tezu airport funded by NEC has been a major investment in the district and it would benefit the local population immensely.
The team also visited Kendriya vidyalaya Tezu to inspect the playground rostrum and gallery which was funded by NEC and completed last year.
Later the Secretary interacted with the HODs wherein, the DC gave an overview of the district to the visiting team.
Speaking on the occasion, the secretary said that the district is blessed with abundant plain land and good connectivity.
“The district can benefit from agri-horti sector hence major emphasis should be given to double the income of the farmers,” he said and wished the very best to team Lohit and urged them to give their best service to the public. (DIPRO)
