Training on rice cultivation held

ROING, Aug 05: A day-long awareness-cum-training programme on scientific rice cultivation and its management was conducted at Bolung village in Lower Dibang Valley district, where a total of 56 farmers participated.

The programme is under project Arik Abik Lunom-mobile based agro advisory services in Arunachal Pradesh, which is implemented by the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat in collaboration with Digital India Corporation (DIC) of union ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The broad objective of the project is to provide right information at right time and empower the farmers in taking informed, decision to enhance their livelihood through mobile based agro advisory aervices in local dialect.

The project is being implemented in nine districts of the state including, East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, Siang, Lepa Rada, Lower Dibang Valley, Namsai and Shi Yomi.

The training was provided by Dr Punabati Heisnam and Dr T M Chanu, Assistant Professor, of College of Horticulture and Forestry. The programme was coordinated by Dr Saroj Kumar Pattanaaik, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator, m4agri-Arunachal Project, of the college, a press release informed here.
