Indigenous youth fest concludes with positive note

NAMSAI, Jan 23: The seventh edition of the state level Indigenous Youth Festival held at Namsai from January 18 to 21 last, with the theme ‘Infusing sense of belongingness to own roots’ concluded in an impressive and successful note.

The four days mega event which was inaugurated by state Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and former MP Tarun Vijay, was participated by around 2000 delegates besides eminences members from central and district unit IFCSAP and allied organizations from 25 districts of state and across the country.

The festival witnessed encourages participation of youths in cultural competitions like folk songs, traditional devotional dances, traditional folk dances and local modern dances in the best of their attires and costumes.

The games and sports events include archery, athletics, marathon race and volley ball (boys & girls). While in the literary competition includes essay writing and drawing (senior and junior) and extempore speech.

Namsai MLA Zingnu Namchoom, while attending the valedictory function on Saturday, appreciated the successful conduct of the festival. He urged the youths to make the knowledge they garnered and experiences they gained during the event as stepping stone towards their future life.

He also urged the youths to keep exploring and accessing to the world of indigenous knowledge through such platforms

The mega event concluded with a fashion show and camp fire in the evening of Saturday with great fanfare.
