RKM completes 125-year service | Arunachal example of ‘unity in diversity: Mein

NAROTTAM NAGAR, Jan 23: People of multi-ethnic and multi-cultural Arunachal Pradesh living in the lap of nature with harmony is a glittering example of ‘unity in diversity,” said Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and all to know the rich history and culture of the state.

He was addressing an august gathering of 3,000 after unveiling a 12-feet statue of Lord Buddha seated on a 12-feet pedestal, laid foundation stone of the proposed convention hall proposed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu of Ramakrishna Mission School here on Monday.

The event was also attended by PHE&WS & DoTCL Minister Wangki Lowang, MLAs Wanglian Lowangdong, Wanglam Sawin, Chakat  Aboh,   chief secretary Dharmendra, principal secretary Kaling Tayeng, retired CE ( highway) Sumnyak Sumnyan.

Elaborating humanising power of Buddha, and how he came up with the concept of Sangha first, Mein highlighted insight on Swamiji and Buddha having identical approaches to mankind. Swamiji favoured Buddha’s love and compassion for the humanity,

He congratulated Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission (RM&RM) for completing a golden run of 125 years and praised its perpetual effort to peddle love to millions and serve the humanity. He recalled his memories of an infant Arunachal Pradesh and how the state and Ramakrishna Mission struggled hard for successfully to make its presence felt.  He stressed the importance of discipline and reading in everyone’s life.

Narottam Nagar and Namsai boast of huge prospects as tourist destination, Mein said and advocated that cultural integration could connect Narottam Nagar with rest of the state, he added.

The Ramakrishna Mission celebrated second phase of its Golden Jubilee and 125th anniversary of foundation of its Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission headquarters on birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose that heightened the festive mood in the campus.

Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission general secretary revered Swami Suviranandaji, in his presidential address, spoke about ‘yagna’ which RM&RM performs across the world and always work for greater welfare of the humanity.

He talked about the Vivekananda had immense influence on the west and his spirit of nationalism and service to the nation channelized him as a great monk for the world. He reminisced his two- decade experiences at Ramakrishna Mission, Aalo. He also highlighted Swamij’s view of a progressive India.

Lowang, Lowangdong, Sawin, Aboh, Dharmendra and Tayeng, including DyCM felicitated all prize winners. Principal Swami Jneyananda earlier briefed 2021-22 activities while Narottam Nagar RKM secretary Swami Achyuteshananda and  Sumnyam also spoke. Bhantes from Assam & Arunachal Pradesh along with local populace joined the grand celebration, according to an official release.
