No clues on Gangkak’s death after verification of phone numbers: Police

ITANAGAR, Apr 27: The state police on Thursday informed that after preliminary verification of around 14,000 active numbers, no important clue was found on the mysterious death of Tumi Gangkak, former under-secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).

Police spokesperson Sanjay Bhatia during a press briefing here informed that data of 21 cell IDs have been sought and analysed so far, but no concrete clue was found leading to the death of Gangkak.

According to the investigation report of SIT, the case has taken a new turn where, Gangkak was found to be having the paper setter’s certificate in his vehicle.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased had not submitted the vouchers and cash memos of the examination conducted by him to the tune of over 13 lakh, Bhatia revealed.

On February 23 this year, the deceased at around 11 am reached APPSC office and submitted voucher amounting to Rs 48,000 relating to the expenditures incurred by him for conducting examination for the post of Financial Account Officer (FAO) and Treasury Officer (TO), added Bhatia.

“A few copies of manuscript of post graduate teachers (PGT) examination 2021 (which was not completed) were also seized from the office chamber of the deceased by the SIC,” Bhatia said and added that seizing of such manuscripts from one officer is not decent for the conduct of examination.

The police spokesperson further informed that no contact was made between inspectors B Krong and T Messar, the suspects in the case, with the deceased’s wife.

The use of blade’s linkage is yet to be investigated, he added.

The investigation also revealed that those persons whom the inspector contacted had no link in the case and both the inspectors location shows that they did not go to the place of occurrence of the incident, said Bhatia.

Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report of electronic evidences including the mobile phones of the deceased, alleged suspects and CCTV footage are awaited and three layer of call details report (CDR) analysis is underway, Bhatia disclosed.

“CDR analysis of alleged accused persons including important witness is being done by the SIT, verification of the remaining vehicles plying in and around the place of occurrence on the day of the incident is being done. The dump date of the remaining active phone numbers is being analysed,” he added.
