Health Minister launch NEC funded 5G Applications in NER with Hub at AMTRON in Smart City Pasighat

PASIGHAT, June 22: In a revolutionary initiative  which will transform the health and Agriculture sectors of the state and facilitate  immersive learning in health care education in the state and the North East Region in general  through  5G AI driven  Technology intervention, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, GoAP, Alo Libang  today launched the project-“5 G Applications  in NER with Hub at AMTRON, Guwahati “funded by NEC in Smart City Pasighat –at   Govt. College of Nursing, Pasighat, Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH) and College of Agriculture, Pasighat  (CoA, CAU).

The Minister was accompanied by NEC Secretary, K Moses Chalai, MLAs Ninong Ering and Kaling Moyong, Secretary Industry Hage Tari, DC East Siang Tayi Taggu, Jt.DHS, BPGH, Dr. T.Tali, PMC Chief Councillor, Okiam Moyong Borang, HoDs and host of officers and representatives from executing partners.

The Health Minister terming the initiative as first of its kind said that   the NEC funded initiative will immensely help in facilitating remote patient monitoring and consultation, Telemedicine and screening through the  mobile AI  App based solutions and devices  ,though which patients  can access speedy ,affordable and specialised and best of healthcare services in easy and seamless manner even in rural areas through  5G AI solutions. The project will be replicated in all districts including CHCs and PHCs with special focus on rural areas, he added.

At Govt.College of Nursing, Pasighat which is the first Nursing College to be equipped  with Virtual Reality powered Immersive Human Anatomy learning Model under the project , the Minister also interacted and took the feedback of the with students on their enhanced learning experiences through the AR VR Applications.

The Minister also visited the Bakin Pertin General Hospital(BPGH), Pasighat where the project is being implemented, for exposure to acquaint with practical deployment of 5 G health AI solutions in OPD of the Hospital and its benefits to the patients and the healthcare professionals.

At College of Agriculture,Pasighat  (CoA), CAU, the Minister visited the 5 G lab and was also apprised  by the Dean CoA, Dr. AK Tripathi among others of  the 5 G use case applications of IoT & Technology in Agriculture sector and its benefits to the farmers in smart farming ranging from irrigation,livestock monitoring, precision farming,agricultural drones etc.

NEC Secretary, K. Moses Chalai said that NEC is committed to adopting future technologies to bring positive impact in various development sectors for the speedy socio-economic development of NER.

The project funded by North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North East Region, Govt. of India  is jointly executed by  Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (AMTRON), Guwahati, Design Innovation Centre, Punjab University,  School of Planning and Architecture, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), GoI,  Telecom Skill Sector Council. The focus will be in medical and health care application, as computing speed up internet etc. through Artificial Intelligence (AI) enable technologies ensuring reliability, affordability and speed being implemented in the 8 NER states under the guidance of DoT, GoI.  DIPRO
