Guv seeks Rijiju’s help data for state building

ITANAGAR, Sept 16: Union Minister of Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju called on Governor Lt. General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday when they discussed developmental initiatives where latest science and technology have been applied.

Parnaik  stressed on using satellite data for enhancing agricultural and horticultural production, monitoring progress in infrastructural development, including roads, observing areas prone to landslides and floods. He requested Rijiju to assist the state Govt in getting real time data.

He informed that many places in the state are frequently affected by heavy rains, thunderstorms, cyclonic wind, hailstorms, cloudburst and floods and suggested an observation centre in to share information and technologies of earth science for socio-economic benefit of the society.

He also suggested for carrying out geophysical exploration for providing critical new information regarding subsurface geology and mineral deposit in the state.

Rijiju was very positive and forthcoming to provide needed assistance to the state Govt. (PRO).
