DC advocates adult education

ITANAGAR, Sept 19: Capital DC Talo Potom has stressed importance of adult education for those who have lost the opportunity and have crossed the age of formal education, but now feel the need for learning, including literacy, basic education, vocational and continuing education. He volunteered for adult education and offered space in his office to conduct classes for them.

Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society president Kani Nada Maling informed that APWWS has been voluntarily running the centre since May last and total 38 vendors are registered with their Ganga centre and four with Naharlagun centre now. There are many members voluntarily imparting adult education, she said, adding women vendors are target now to empower them to lead a better life. APWWS chief coordinator  Yomjum Geyi Jongsam highlighted academic progress of their students.

Informing about other NGOs providing adult education to many, like OJU Welfare Association, Capital District Literacy Mission Authority assistant nodal officer Tori Gadi hinted said that total 37 learning centres are active in various Govt schools now, he said, and highlighted various issues and hurdles in their proper functioning.
