From Our Correspondent

TEZU, Oct 04: The dilapidated roads filled with potholes of Lohit district head quarters town and its link roads, reflects the status of one of the most beautiful and planned town of Arunachal Pradesh.

This is an annual phenomenon during rainy days as most of the roads are in shambles, including  the road leading from NH-13 to colonies and adjoining villages of Telluliang, Tamlanagar, Educated Colony, Police and RWD colony, Tezu-1 GHSS, Rockline, FCI and Tibetan Camp.

The dilapidated roads during rains with potholes turning into ponds cause untold suffering to commuters and pedestrian, particularly students. The students face hard time, drench their shoes and clothes with mud, rued a student.

“As long as cheap quality tar is used for thin layer, we will continue to face such problems every year. I wonder why nobody is looking into this”, wondered a cautious citizen.

“Driving on these streets is horrible. Drivers keep swerving and maneuvering to make sure they miss every pothole, as numerous potholes punctuate the road

Potholes aren’t just a nuisance for drivers but not free from hazards for damaging vehicles and bikes”, criticized another citizen.

When enquired about maintenance & renovation, PWD EE W Rongrang said that the PWD has highest network of roads and this time we have launched maintenance & renovation work in full swing to give relief to the citizens. “We have 22-km concrete cement roads to be built and 7-km bitumen road. Once built, the township roads would offer pleasure ride to all. This time we are maintaining quality and I personally visit sites to ensure superior quality”, he said.

Machine are being used in bitumen road as 1-km from NH–13 to Minister Colony has been made by machine with quality as major exercise to refurbish township potholes, the EE said.

Bad shape of Rockline to Tibetan Camp under RWD has been taken up under PMGSY-1, RWD EE Changang Bangyang said, adding the approach road from NH-13 to the Camp will be given complete shape within this year as project has already been sanctioned.
