APU observes Martyrs Day, VC recalls Bapuji, & Netaji

PASIGHAT, Jan 30: There are many good occasions in January, like e Lal Bahadur Shastri’s death anniversary on January 11, Subhas Chandra Bose birth anniversary on January 23, Republic Day on  January  26,Lala Lajpat Raibirth anniversary on January 28, said Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) vice chancellor Prof. Tomo Riba while addressing during  Martyrs Day observation here on Tuesday

The Japanese have built big buildings naming after Netaji as remembrance but India is yet to do so, he said, adding India celebrates Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary as he had fought against the injustice of the British through non-violence. All those who have sacrificed their lives for the nation should be remembered; he said and suggested to read Gandhiji’s autobiography.

India gained freedom as many had sacrificed their lives to become martyrs, assistant Prof (tribal studies) Dr. Tarh Ramya said, adding that they all are remembered during Martyrs Day observation. He urged all to recall their sacrifice and to be committed for the nation

Registrar Narmi Darang also spoke before two minutes silence was observed to remember  all martyrs, according to an APU release.
