Ensure level playing field for all candidates, EO urges EEMTs

YUPIA, Apr 02: The elections expenditure monitoring teams (EEMTs) are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring a level playing field for all candidates in elections by preventing them from gaining any undue advantage by excessive spending, said Election Commission of India expenditure observer (EO) for Papum Pare district Praveen Kataraki.

Addressing a meeting of Itanagar and Doimukh Assembly candidates besides EEMTs and accounting teams, including of Sagalee seat, here on Tuesday, Kataraki said that strict adhere to expenditure guidelines and maintain all records are important to prevent any violation which may  debar a candidate from contesting elections in future.

“The registers maintained by these teams and the candidates will be cross checked thrice for which the registers should be updated,” he said before sensitizing party representatives about entries to be made in expenditure register.

While highlighting the guidelines for maintaining expenditures, Papum Pare DEO Jiken Bomjen urged all candidates to remain alert to abide by the guidelines.

Returning officers Shweta Nagarkoti (Itanagar) & Yame Higio (Sagalee), nodal officers to EEMTs, election agents of candidates were present. (DIPRO)
