Miscreants dismantle school building evoking mass anger

ITANAGAR, May 06: Miscreants have dismantled a school building in Balijan circle of Papum Pare district that has aroused widespread anger among local residents, who have urged the authorities to take prompt action against the wrong doers.

The Chakma block-11 of Govt primary school was totally demolished on April 21 last month. After inspecting the site on Monday, cluster resource coordinator (CRC) said that of total 6,765 sq meter area, a. major portion of northern area has been encroached by some individual.

An FIR has been lodged with Balijan police station to initiate action against the culprit, he said, adding that the DDSE has been informed about the incident.

“Some miscreants in 2021 had encroached the land and erected an iron, who were evicted and the structure was demolished at the initiative of the then DDSE.

He said that the school management committee and local people have been upset by dismantling of the school building as it has been catering to the need of hundreds of students of Balijan circle.

While education department has sought action against the culprits, Papum Poma Students’ Union (PPSU) has urged local police to expedite the investigation to bring the guilty to task as the FIR was registered 14 days ago, but no action has been taken as yet..

The PPSU urged the miscreant to refrain from wither encroaching Govt land or damaging of any property and cautioned not to repeat such act against the interest of the society.
