District level 7th edition of Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy tournament concludes

NAMSAI, May 09: The district level 7th edition of level Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy (U-16 boys and girls) tournament concluded here recently amidst a massive gathering.

In a heart-beating showdown, boys’ football final witnessed an intense battle between Namsai and Lekang. After a fiercely contested match, Namsai emerged victorious, clinching the title with a narrow 5-4 victory in a penalty shootout.

In girls’ football, Lekang showcased their dominance in the field, securing a convincing 2-0 win against Namsai, The excitement continued with the volleyball matches, in which Lekang again demonstrated their prowess.

The boys’ team claimed victory in straight set with a commanding 2-0 win. In the girls, Lekang emerged triumphant yet again, overpowering Chongkham with a flawless performance, securing a straight set victory of 2-0.

Chow Wiladha Mungkang (boy) was adjudged as best player in boys’ football for showcasing remarkable skill and talent throughout the tournament. Sanjana Deori was adjudged best player in girls’ football. Albart Morang (boy) and Monalisha Gogoi (girl) excelled as best players in volleyball for showcasing unmatched skill and dedication on the court.

The trophy and cash award of Rs 50,000 for the winners and Rs. 25,000 for the runners-up teams pf both football and volleyball (U-16 boys and girls) were presented by DC CR Khampa (chief guest), SP Sange Thinley (guest of honour) and Namsai Olympic Association secretary general Chow Jantika Munglang (special guest).

District sport & youths affairs officer BC Das was happy with enthusiastic participation of boys and girls  in the events reflecting their sportsmanship spirit.

The district championship will take part in state level Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy (boys & girls) for football and volleyball here likely in September next.
