SIC (Vigilance) gets ISO certification

ITANAGAR, May 14: The Special Investigation Cell (Vigilance) police station has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first anti-corruption police station in India to receive the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification.

This certification is awarded to organizations that demonstrate an effective quality management system, encompassing defined processes, procedures and activities to manage goods production or service delivery. The certification recognized the SIC (Vigilance) police station for its commitment to transparency, implementation of codified rules and procedures and qualitative improvements in its operations.

Director General of Police (DGP) Anand Mohan, presented the certificate to officer-in-charge L Dawa, during the commemoration of the SIC (Vigilance) police station’s 20th Foundation Day at Nokmey Namati Hall of state legislative assembly on  Monday, PHQ sources told this daily.

Established on May 12, 2005, the SIC is mandated to investigate cases against public servants, including those falling under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

DGP Mohan in his address, lauded the SIC’s two decades of service, emphasizing the importance of marking such milestones annually. He applauded it for evolving into a trusted institution, especially noting its recent accomplishments.

Mohan highlighted the SIC’s successful execution of state’s first trap operation, which has cemented its reputation as a credible anti-corruption agency. He also stressed the importance of embracing new technologies, enhancing skills, adopting best practices and fortifying the SIC to tackle emerging challenges effectively.

Deputy Secretary (Vigilance) Habung Lampung underscored the significance of public cooperation in the fight against corruption. He praised the collaborative efforts between the vigilance department and the SIC, emphasizing their synergistic relationship.

Officials of the SIC, vigilance department, legislative assembly, and other dignitaries were present.
