NHPC, GoAP fisheries dept ink MoA for fisheries management

ZIRO, June 09: A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed between the fisheries department of Arunachal Pradesh Govt and the NHPC here on Saturday for implementation of a fisheries management plan at 2,000-MW Subansiri Lower HE Project (SLHEP), the NHPC said in a release.

The MoA was signed by fisheries director Joyshil Taba and NHPC general manager (environment) Manmeet Singh Chowdhary in presence of SLHEP executive director Rajendra Prasad. About 6,000 fingerlings of Indian major carps were released into Subansiri River, downstream of the dam, by NHPC, SLHEP and fisheries department officers to mark commencement of activities,

The plan envisages the development of hatcheries for rearing of fish seed of golden mahseer, snow trout, Indian major and minor carps by fisheries department and the ranching of fingerlings in upstream of Subansiri River in the SLP dam as a conservation measure for  sustenance of riverine ecology, the release added.
