Act 1986 protects consumers’ rights

AALO | Mar 15 | The Consumer Protection Act 1986 aims at protecting the interest and settling consumers disputes through various forums, Siang DC Gamli Padu said, while addressing participants of World Consumers Rights Day at Aalo Club here today.
It grantees consumers’ rights and ensures compensation to aggrieved consumers, he said and appealed the organisers to spread awareness to awaken the ignorant masses in far flung areas.
“Our duty is to educate ignorant grass root level to benefits and grant them justice,” said Nyade Padu Bagra while West Siang unit Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) president secretary Hoksum Ori spoke on the importance of occasion, organized by legal metrology & consumer affairs (LMCA) department in collaboration with APWWS.
LMCA assistant controller Jomba Kamgo Lobom exhorted all to spread the message of consumerism while the SFS college students demonstrated on adulteration, quality standardization, weights and measures, packaged commodities, ISI mark etc. (DIPRO)
