Road sub-standard, alleges committee

From Our Correspondent

PASIGHAT | Mar 30 | A team of monitoring committee headed by EAC Dr. M. Komut as chairman has alleged sub-standard construction of  Mirmir Chariali-Sibo Korong (Balek) road, being built  by some local contractors, after inspecting it.

The committee including administrative officers, engineers, PRI leaders and HGBs expressed surprise during  field inspection from English bridge to Mirmir Chariali today, particularly for the fact that the PWD was its construction agency.

After All Bogong Students’ Union (Elected) lodged a official with the DC recently alleging sub-standard works in 2.8-km stretch, the DC directed formation of the committee as the road serves as  lifeline for 10 villages of Bogong region.

Clarifying on the issue why thickness was not 75-mm, PWD engineers specified that it was as per actual estimate but practically not necessary.

When contacted, East Siang DC T. Tatak refused to comment as he had not received the inspection report as yet.
