Create mass awareness to protect rivers: Gum

ROING | May 26 |  Insisting on protection and preservation of water resources, WRD, Research, Art & Culture  Parliamentary Secretary Gum Tayeng has exhorted all stake holder to create mass awareness on the issue.

She was addressing an awareness programme  after releasing fish seeds into Jia River near Bolik culvert point of Kangkong village to regenerate fish population and conserve water, inaugurating local medicine/naturopathy centre at Mobang-I run by Kaling Boko on Tuesday last. Mobang-I,

While highlighting various development activities undertaken in the area, she announced that water connection and power supply to Parbuk village areas would be solved soon. she sought cooperation from the public and Govt officials for accelerating development of the district.

Appreciating the cultural troops from Assam for their colourful programme, she said such cultural exchange would create a healthy environment between two states.

DC Deepak Shinde lauded the efforts of public for banning fishing in Jia River by any method other than traditional methods.  The district administration alone  cannot resolve any problem confronting the area without cooperation of the masses.

On promotion of local traditional medicine, he sought the details of local medicines to recommend to higher level for social recognition and any Govt. assistance. The NoC should be obtained from respective gaon bura for renewal of gun license and exhorted the GBs to ensure that guns are not used for hunting purposes. He also called for achieving 100% target under Swatch Bharat Mission.

Bukong ZPM Starson Saring  called for Mega cultural exchange event in the district and sought cooperation from district authority. He disclosed that two rooms are available in Dibrugarh, run by Samaritan Society, for the patients of Bukong at free of cost.

ABK district woman wing unit president Tinam Tayeng (Lego)  also spoke.
