DC advocates 3Rs for cleanliness

LONGDING | Jun 08 |Advocating the relevance of 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle -, Longding DC Himanshu Gupta  has called for keeping this district headquarters town neat and clean.

Addressing the participants of World Environment Day, he suggested to segregate waste at the source, keep twin dustbins in every household, go for vermicompost unit to make the waste useful and environment-friendly.

UD & housing deputy director Bapenlu Kri demonstrated the process of segregation of household waste and convert them into bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste.

Moreover, awareness campaign on door to door garbage collection along with segregation process was conducted,  pamphlets by distributed and twin dustbins given to 20 colonies.

Earlier, the a procession, themed ‘Clean and Green Longding’ was conducted involving Wanchoo Women Welfare Society, Govt primary school students, traders and others.

The environment & forest department organised tree plantation in market areas and distributed saplings to the civilians to mark the occasion.
