Massive plantation marks 68th Vanamahotsava Week

PASIGHAT | Jul  02 | A massive plantation drive marked the 68th  Vanamahotsava Week on Saturday by planting more than 200 saplings around Kiyit Govt Secondary School and in proposed Botanical garden.

The botanical garden has been conceptualized by school and forest authorities as part of teaching for students, said Mebo range RFO Obang Tayeng while Pasighat forest division DFO Tabang Jamoh termed the event as one of the best plantation programmes by students and villagers that too by imposing fine of Rs. 2,500 to those who damaged or destroyed the saplings.

ABK secretary Bodong Yirang, speaking as chief guest, lauded the initiative of school authorities and forest officials.

SMC chairman Lining Pertin stressed on conservation of forest and wildlife while recounting the history of Vanamahotsava and its ever relevancy. MIF President Osu Borang also spoke.

The masses along with  PRI leaders and GBs took part in the event enthusiastically.
