PASIGHAT | Oct 29 | East Siang district forest department in appreciation has awarded Women Against Social Evil (WASE) Rs 10,000 on October 26 last for seizing lizard (tokey gecko) and elephant tusk from this township.
Meanwhile, the WASE has submitted a report recently highlighting its seven-year fight against drug trafficking in the district and adjoining areas.
The report including some video graphic evidences was submitted to DIG (central range), DC and SP hinting at intensification of the drive against drug menace. It also included drug abuse, trafficking, drug names of peddlers with contact numbers, their modus operandi and routes to transport drugs in the district and types of drugs supplied by the traffickers.
WASE and East Siang Police have been fighting with dedication against this menace but the efforts have been facing hindrances as main drugs suppliers procure these contraband from Assam within the jurisdiction of Assam Police, WASE said.
PMC & NSSP conducts SBM
Meanwhile, a mass social service under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) was conducted from fish market area to judicial jail here today by Nepali East Siang district unit Sanskriti Suraksha Parishad (NSSP) along with Pasighat Municipal Council led by chief councilor Kaling Doruk.
Highlighting the importance of cleanliness, Doruk exhorted the citizens to change their mindset and develop civic sense on cleanliness keeping in mind that the centurion township is being developed as a Smart City.
Shouting “safai main bhalai, green city clean city, my dream city Pasighat” slogan, Doruk and his deputy gave a call to all to join the cleanliness race to make Pasighat a better place. They also lauded DC for his initiative in this regard.
Besides 300 NSSP members, PMC councilors led by the duo and sanitation staffs took part in the drive and used PMC vehicles to clean the garbage.
