AALO | Nov 17 | The week-long golden jubilee celebration of Essi Rite Govt UP school coincided with maiden Jee River Festival, organised by Gumin Rego Welfare Society in remote Tirbin circle begun in the confluence of Hil Mil on November 14 last.
This school located on the right bank of Jee River withstood tests of time as a centre of elementary learning for the interior areas for last five decades to produce many stalwarts.
WCDSJE&TA Parliamentary Secretary-cum-Basar MLA Gojen Gadi, addressing the Inaugural ceremony as chief guest, was all praise for the mega event through community participation without any GoAP aid. He assured all help and cooperation from his side in future.
Lower Siang DDSE Pakgi Koyu Lombi, speaking guest of honour, hinted at thorough inspection while revamp all rural schools and expressed her optimism that it would cater to academic needs of remote areas.
Lone APCS officer from the school Kego Jilen (now serving as Hayuliang ADC), was instrumental in conceiving river festival idea to mark schools’ golden jubilee to facilitate congregation of its alumni during the momentous occasion.
Jilen as organizing committee chairman and ZPM Kejum Jilen, also organizing secretary, disclosed that celebration has been organised through donations by alumni, well wishers as the community efforts hold the key to hold such an event to unconnected location.
Teachers of yesteryears, who were instrumental in shaping the school, alumni and well wishers, who shared their nostalgia-tinged accounts of bygone era, were felicitated on the occasion.
Floating houses in the river, sleeping tents along river bank, beach volleyball, football tournament, rafting, angling, food stalls and other extravaganzas, were arranged against all adversities that left all visitors onlookers bewildered.
Be it expenditure on house construction, pandal erection or sale of local food, all went into village folk’s coffers while the maiden event united those separated for years to celebrate on the occasion. (DIPRO)
