Songs, Sanskrit hymns rent as sign of happiness

NAHARLAGUN | May 15 | Songs and Sanskrit hymns rented the air to spread a wave of happiness among 32 depressed, suppressed and neglected tiny tots, all inmates of Oju Welfare Association (OWA) here as they celebrated their birthday together today.

Making such neglected members of the society, including two dozen other hapless women, is a herculean task. Thus, Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (AVYS) founder-chairman Tatung Ramesh Jeke conceived the idea of joint birthday celebration, coinciding with his own. Notably, three adopted children of Jeke are being nourished by OWA.

Noted social worker Toko Yazo, invariably associated with various OWA and AVYS welfare activities, made arrangements including cakes and lunch to ensure that everyone becomes happy.

The tiny tots presented numerous cultural items to showcase their talent while OWA Children Home house mother Biny Kempi and counselor-cum coordinator Elizabeth ensured to put everything in order. “Such celebration for the first time since establishment of the organization in 1979 would be memorable for all of us,” OWA chairperson Any Ratan said.

Birthday celebration never makes any news, but this is different as it involved those whose life has always been in threat since their birth. Moreover, the tiny tots made a difference as they folded their hands to rend Gayatri mantra:

Om Bhuur-Bhuvah Svah

Tat-Savitur-Varennyam

Bhargo Devasya Dhiimahi

Dhiyo Yo Nah Pracodayaat||

[Om(that divine illumination which pervades the) Bhu Loka (physical plane, consciousness of the physical plane), Bhuvar Loka (antariksha or intermediate space, consciousness of the prana) and Swar Loka (Swarga, Heaven, consciousness of the divine mind), On that Savitur (divine illumination) which is the most adorable (varenyam)… and which is of the nature of divine effulgence (bhargo devasya), I meditate, may that divine intelligence (dhiyah)  waken (pracodyat) our (spiritual consciousness)]

The sound echoed to a send a louder message about the quality of education being imparted to them to make them good human beings.

When asked as to why you did it, many individually quipped: The god is inside me as indicated by dhak.. dhak, the sound of my heart. The smiling faces and satisfaction lit large over their faces is heart touching, said Childline coordinator Takang Diging, the special invitee. WRD divisional accountant Tage Murtem & his wife, RGU students, among others, joined the celebration.

However, about nine interns – Neetu Basnet, Osinam Dai, Denish Kholie, Mituso Kri & Ananad Talom of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya; Mapu Nyori of IGNOU and Jaitunbo (Myanmar), Gepo Mutem & Joshan Terangpi (Assam) of Martin Luther Christian University, all MSW students, were the happiest lot to join conceding with their 45-day internship.

Responding to queries, Terangpi with her family & children specialization said that it was very educative for future life. The lessons learnt would be very helpful when one raises a family.
