ATI training on gender budgeting begins

NAHARLAGUN, May 30:  A three-day free training on gender budgeting (GB) of Union Ministry of Women & Child Development, attended by senior level officers of various departments, begun at Administrative Training Institute here today.

Gender usually is referred to feminine while as per experts the word is referred to social roles ascribed to males and females depending in their behavior, ATI director Pate Marik said in his inaugural address, adding these roles are learned but change over time and vary widely with cultures. Sex is the biological distinction between the two determined by genetic and anatomical characteristic, he said.

The training aims at sensitizing the district and state level officers on gender equalities and inequality while preparing Govt. policies and programmes with special focus on inclusive approach even for invariably neglected transgender to give equal opportunity to all sections of society, he pinpointed.

Retired associate Prof S.K. Sharma, Doimukh Govt College principal Dr. M.Q. Khan, Ar.SLM chief operating officer Dr. Rakesh Srivastava, Dy. Directors Dr. Bengia Mala & Dr. Runi Tasung  (FW department),  senior journalist Pradeep Kr. Behera & W&CD CDPO D.K. Thongun will conduct the training as resource persons.

Highlighting course content, assistant director-cum-course coordinator Nani Khambo urged the trainees to take full benefit of the rare opportunity while maintaining strict discipline while AD Bamin Tarang also spoke.
