HAYULIANG, Sept 29: A superstructure steel bridge built over Dau River, about 1.44-km from here, along the road joining interior border areas of strategically located Anjaw district along Indo-China border, was  dedicated to the nation by BRO ADG (East) UC Mehta here on Saturday.

The newly bridge, which replaced 140 feet Bailey bridge along Hayuliang – Changwanti road, will facilitate uninterrupted movement of defence personnel and civilians  round-the-year in all weathers.

Talking exclusively to this daily, Mehta lauded the BRO officials and labourer for timely completion of superstructure despite several unforeseen hurdles. “We have four steel bridges which are complete and one is under construction  while 16 more bridges from Tidding to Kibithu are in offing to ensure smooth connectivity to interior border pockets of this border district”, he said.  He praised 48 BRTF commandant Col Rajeev Dhingra and OC 1444 BCC for completing works as per target.

Col Dhingra spoke on innumerable odds faced during construction of these bridges and roads. “Working under tough weather condition and landscapes, our officials and labourer need appreciation to complete the structures with quality in time”, he said in his address to the gathering including Project Udayak CE Brig Rakshvir,  1444 OC PR Bandhu, GREF officials, labourers and local people.
