DIRANG, Dec 05: Dirang-based Ama Kelsang Choikey Welfare Society (AKCWS) led by a thoughtful native Tseri Gonpapa, with humanitarianism or loving kindness as its motto, has been working for underprivileged children of the society by offering free education.
The NGO presently with three teaching staff has been providing free tuition to 64 enrolled students in art & culture, vocational & skill training to them at Dirang Dzong here.
The AKCWS has also been conducting educational awareness and plantation programmes, workshops and brainstorming sessions for students at Dirang and Naharlagun since its inception in 2015.
Such voluntary services, especially for young children, particularly by Gonpapa with dedication for the cause of humanity, have evoked wide appreciation from cross sections of the society.
The AKCWS deserves appreciation as Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein recently said that the students should be imparted quality education from primary level for better results in CBSE examinations. His statement came in the backdrop of state’s poor results in 2017 CBSE examinations.
It would be prudent for state’s education department to take note of such NGOs and extend support to them as their activities are supplementing the avowed role of the department.
