PUNE, Jan 10: Arunachalee Charu Pesi won silver medal on the 2nd day of Khelo India Youth Games in 61-kg category of U-17 age group.
He lifted total of 227-kg (97-kg in snatch, 130-kg in clean & Jerk). He lifted 17-kg more than what he had lifted during 64th School National Games at Guwahati in November last. In School Games, he had lifted total 210-kg (90-kg snatch, 120-kg clean & jerk).
In afternoon session in the same age category, Markio Tario won silver medal to create national record by breaking record of Youth Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Lalringte of Mizoram created during 14th Youth National Championship at Nagpur., Markio Tario in 67-kg category lifted total 246-kg (104-kg in snatch, 142-kg in clean & jerk).
In evening session in 49-kg weight category of girls, Techi Nadam won bronze medal to create a national record as she lifted 73-kg in clean & jerk to break record of gold medal winner Bornali Borah of Assam. She had lifted total 132- kg (55-kg in snatch, 77-kg in clean & jerk. However, Nadam lifted total 129-kg (56-kg in snatch, 73-kg in clean & jerk).
Arunachal weightlifters have so far won five medals – bronze 3 and silver 2, according Arunachal Weightlifting Association GS Daniel Teli.
