Awareness on PWDV Act 2005 conducted 

PASIGHAT, Feb 08: Highlighting Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (PWDV Act 2005) and responsibilities of each member of the family and the society in dealing with victims of domestic violence and laws pertaining to sexual harassment of women in work places, East Siang ICDS Dy. director Ponung Ering Angu enlisted Govt services and packages, like PMMVY, JSY available for women.

Addressing a day-long awareness camp on   PWDV Act 2005 and sexual harassment at the work place was conducted at Debing village under Ruksin sub-division on Thursday, she exhorted all to avail them. In all 15 members of women SHGs, village heads and field functionaries of ICDS attended the event, according to an official release.

Debing HGB Yom Yomso, speaking as chief guest, spoke on issues affecting women within homes and work places and urged them to learn more their rights and duties to prevent such acts.

Advocate Borik Tarang, who conducted technical session on PWDV Act 2005, highlighted key features of the Act, roles and responsibilities of VOs/NGOs and service providers under the Act. Counsellor Duman Moyong spoke on effects of domestic violence on the women and children and how to tackle such global problem.

The Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013 was discussed in detail by advocate Mary Tatak, centre administrator of One Stop Centre here in second session, covering services offered by One Stop Centre in the district.
