Income tax surveillance strategies discussed

ITANAGAR, Mar 13: Guwahati-based IT additional director (investigation) Mridul Kumar Das, also nodal officer for NE, elaborated on duties and responsibilities of banks, CAPF, police, SPs and DEOs. Any seizure of Rs 10 lakh and above should be informed to IT team available in the state.

He was addressing a meeting attended by IGP Sunil Garg, secretaries, directors, DCs, SPs and officers of CEO office, chaired by chief electoral officer Kaling Tayeng, on income tax surveillance during election here on Wednesday, according to a CEO release.

A central IT control has been activated at Civil Secretariat here to be manned by IT officers from tomorrow and air intelligence for cash movements by helicopter has also been activated, he said, adding the police, flying squad teams and static surveillance teams being first contact points with public should conduct proper checking and immediately report seizures of above Rs 10 lakh for verification.

Arunachal Pradesh has been identified as highly expenditure sensitive as per seizure records of last elections, Tayeng said and called for proper measures are being put into place to check all such transaction and cash movements. The meeting aimed at evaluating the sensitive areas to work out strategies for better manpower management and share standard operating procedures prepared by the investigation directorate with other departments in the field, he added.
