NAHARLAGUN, Mar 14: A herd of cattle was loitering in front of Itanagar permanent bench of Gauhati High Court here and obstructing free traffic flow though the HC was in session on Wednesday. But who bothers?
These stray animals have turned a menace by making NH-415, the lifeline of Capital Complex, totally accident prone. However, these animals are removed only on special occasions, but allowed to loiter on the NH even in front of the officers and important establishments to create nuisance.
The Capital district administration and Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring free traffic movement on the highway. These stray animals worsen the chromic traffic jam on NH, adding salt to commuters’ injuries.
The administration should set up flying squads to remove these animals from the NH and form a cell to facilitate handing over these animals to their owners with strict warning that fine will be imposed in case of repetition of allowing their pet animals to loiter on NH.
