Bagang receives national award on WCRD

ITANAGAR, Mar 19: The Consumer Rights Organisation (CSR) celebrated World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD), themed ‘Trusted Smart Products’, at New Delhi on March15 last to bring mass awareness to respect and protect consumer rights. 
The WCRD was inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15.03.1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns.
The first consumer movement was started in 1983 the products that we have access to are becoming more connected each day, from smartphones to wearable fitness trackers, to voice-activated assistants and Smart TVs. The aim behind this theme is to highlight the needs and wants of consumers from a connected world and to put them at the core of the development of such products and services.
Arunachal unit CSR president Achu Bagang was awarded national award by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) director in presence of host of dignitaries including Australia High Commission trade & infrastructure division head Vijay Singh Sekhawat.
Bagang, who returned here on Monday, told this daily as to how he was lauded by all dignitaries for giving thrust to consumer movement in remote land-locked state of India.
