Raga may witness multi-corner contest

ITANAGAR, Mar 19: Raga Assembly constituecny in Kamle district is likely to witness a muti-corner contest in ensuring 2019 Assembly elections on Arpril 11 next.
The constituecny, inhbaited by mostly Nyishi community belonging to variouos clans, was represented by Tamar Murtem of Peyi clan during 2014-19.
Ruling BJP has refielded Murtem from the seat, while former MLA Nido Pavitra of Peri clan (People’s Party of Arunachal-PPA), Tarin Dakpe of Akum clan (National People’s Party) are asipring candidates. Other names, if nay, not known as yet.
Meanwhile, senior leader Maga Tetti of Peyi clan, who served as Lamliko panchayat ASM during 1987 to 1992, has decdided to contest as an independent.
Taking to this daily, Tetti said that he is keen to jump into poll fray as the constituecny is one of the most under developed area of the state as past leaders did not facilitate the desired development.
“Richers became richers while the government benfits falied to percolate down to the targetted benficiaries belonging to poor sections of the scoiety. The motorable road to district headquaerters Raga is in a ramsackle contion indicating poor development,” he said.
“Road connectivity would be my top priotity followed by health and education sectors for development to take deep roots in my constituency, if I am elected”, Tetti said with conviction.
