Alleging voters not allowed to enter PBs, APCC urges CEO to conduct re-polling

ITANAGAR, Apr 13: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Takam Sanjoy on Friday has lodged written complaints with state’s chief electoral officer alleging violation of election procedure in many polling booths (PBs) in Kurung Kumey district.
Congress polling agents were not allowed to enter into Pating and Cheri PBs of Nyapin Assembly seat and Nyokuriang, Taba, Nampe and Damin Town PBs of Kolorianag Assembly seat while some INC polling agents of Congress were kidnapped, tortured and later released, against which FIR was lodged with Sangram SDO, said the letters, copies of which were made available to the press.
Besides seeking immediate re-polling in those PBs for justice, he also requested to “take appropriate action against all culprits including election officials (if any) involved in the incident”.
.In another letter, he complained that 181 voters of Rakso PB of Kra-Daadi district were “either chased or warned from entering the PB with dire consequences”.
Enclosing copy representation and video clip given to Kurung Kumey DEO and Paling seat general observer by victimised electors, the APCC chief sought justice against “blatant violation and direct interference in free exercise of electoral right by the party in power is really unfortunate and should be taken seriously by the Election Commission for immediate necessary action”. Thus, he sought re-polling in the above PB.
While enclosing an AICC complaint lodged with Chief Election Commissioner complaining blatant violation of manual on model code of conduct by Mukto ruling BJP candidate & incumbent Chief Minister Pema Khandu, he demanded “disqualification of Khandu’s candidature on the basis of complaint letter received from Tawang DCC president, whose copy was enclosed, to restore public the faith on impartiality of Election Commission”.
